The Prix Ganay is a Group 1 flat horse race in France open to thoroughbreds which are four-years-old or above. It is run over a distance of 2,100 metres (approximately 1 mile and 2½ furlongs) at Longchamp Racecourse and takes place annually in late April or early May.
It was first run in 1889 as the Prix des Sablons and was re-named in 1949 in memory of Jean de Ganay, a French race organiser who died the previous year.
With the exception of the 1944 and 1945 runnings, contested at Maisons-Laffitte over 2,100 metres, the original distance of 2,000 metres was maintained until 1970. The following year the race was given Group 1 status and both the distance and date were interchanged with those of the Prix d'Harcourt.
