Priscilla K. Coleman

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Priscilla K. Coleman is an Associate Professor of Human Development and Family Studies at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.[1] Coleman has published numerous peer-reviewed journals regarding negative mental health effects associated with abortion.[2]

In an online article from the Political Research Associates, Coleman is identified as one of many researchers who "feed the Christian Right" negative information about abortion and mental health.[3] The article cites a letter to the editors of the Journal of Anxiety Disorders asserting that Coleman and her collegues are biased and working to build "a literature to be used in efforts to restrict access to abortion."[3]

In 2005 Coleman gave a workshop at the National Right to Life Committee convention[4] addressing her research linking abortion to an increased risk of subsequent maltreatment of later born children.[5][6] Ms. Magazine reports that she testified before a legislative task force in South Dakota considering a ban on abortion regarding the issue of abortion and mental health.[7]
