Printworks is going to be a 9-storey mixed-tenure development designed by British architects Glenn Howells.
Located on Amelia Street in London, Printworks is developed by Urban Regeneration (Urban Renewal) Specialists First Base to comprise 164 homes, with the ground floor as a designated level for businesses and offices. The development also features a landscaped courtyard garden at the rear of the building. Each home comes with a balcony and wide windows to capture natural light. The building follows the natural curvature of the street and will have a steel and glass external facade upon completion.
Printworks is part of the ₤300 million Elephant & Castle regeneration scheme whose objective is to increase the supply of affordable homes in London as well as revitalise the area. Under this scheme, the re-design of the area will provide for the integration of green spaces, pedestrian walkways, cyclist routes, and waste recycling facilities.
The Elephant & Castle regeneration scheme is included under the London-Wide Initiative, which is a collaborative project created by English Partnerships, Housing Corporation, the Greater London Authority and the Department of Communities and Local Government to provide affordable housing across London. The LWI has planned to create up to 5000 new homes, of which 1500 will be allocated specifically to Key Workers. As part of the LWI, Printworks upon completion will offer 42% of 164 units to Key Workers.
