Princess Julia first appeared in the 1980s as part of the Blitz Kids club scene with the likes of Marc Almond and Boy George[1]. She achieved mainstream success and clubland infamy after her appearance in the video for 'Fade to Grey', the hit UK single from Steve Strange's band Visage[2].

In 2005, pop star Kylie Minogue and her stylist William Baker chose Princess Julia to be part of the stage video for Kylie's successful Showgirl - The Greatest Hits world tour. Julia recreated her Visage video appearance especially for Kylie's live show, "A club section features graphics inspired by i-D magazine, a special film of club legend Princess Julia inspired by the Visage video for "Fade To Grey", and clothes inspired by Katharine Hamnett's iconic slogan t-shirts of the '80's"[3].

After Kylie Minogue's return from illness in 2006, the same video footage was used during Kylie's second Showgirl tour of 2006/2007. Julia's friendship with Kylie continued in 2007, as the two were seen partying together at London's fashionable Boombox club night, as reported on Kylie.com, "Kylie took the role of DJ with her friends William Baker and Princess Julia on Sunday night at Boombox, an established club with a cult following. "[4]. It was also reported in the news that, "The 39-year-old singer - who vamps it up with a latex black catsuit, red lipstick and a big curly blonde wig for her 2 Hearts promo - asked cross-dressing stars Tasty Tim and Princess Julia for advice on how to make her electro-pop video her most flamboyant yet."[5]

In August 2005, Princess Julia joined electronic rock band Temposhark on stage for a duet at the TDK Cross Central music festival where Temposhark were supporting Grace Jones and Goldfrapp. In 2006, her duet on Temposhark's underground hit song Paris was released and became a popular electro club track, thanks to the club remix by Julia's band The Most. They performed Paris live a further time at club night Nag Nag Nag for Fischerspooner's after show party in September 2006. Paris (featuring Princess Julia) also featured on the popular Robopop - The Return CD compilation in November 2006.[6]

In 2006, other musical collaborations included ex-Shakespear's Sister/Bananarama singer Siobhan Fahey on two songs 'Bad Blood' and 'Pulsatron' which Julia remixed as well as No Bra's underground hit song Munchausen and Readers Wifes' single Nostalgia. She has also collaborated with dance acts such as Punx Souncheck[7], Larry Tee, Kinky Roland and Riton[8].

In 2007, Princess Julia is a popular female DJ's with residencies in London and as well as playing internationally. She has had residences in London nights: Cock , Crash , Computer Blue , Drama. Princess Julia is also currently a member of the electro-rock group "The Most".

She is also co-publisher for music paper/fanzine The P.i.X[9] and regularly contributes to fashion website KCTV.co.uk[10] as well appearing in Dazed and Confused and i-D fashion magazines as a model and columnist. She writes a weekly column Revoltage and Reportage for gay publication QX, reviewing clubs and writing interviews on bands and various musical projects.[11]
