Princess Elisabeth of Anhalt

Princess Elisabeth of Anhalt (7 September 1857-20 July 1933) was the Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.
She was born in Wörlitz the third child of Friedrich I, Duke of Anhalt and Princess Antoinette of Saxe-Altenburg.
On April 17, 1877 Elisabeth became the Hereditary Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz when she married the then Hereditary Grand Duke, Adolf Friedrich in Dessau.
Following the death of her father-in-law on the 30 May 1904, she became the Grand Duchess of Mecklenburg-Strelitz following her husbands ascension to the throne.
Elisabeth and Adolf Friedrich had four children:
- Duchess Marie (1878-1948) married (1) Count George Jametel (2) Prince Julius Ernst of Lippe
- Duchess Jutta (1880-1946) married Danilo, Crown Prince of Montenegro
- Duke Adolf Friedrich VI (1882-1918)
- Duke Karl Borwin (1888-1908)
