Princess Camille

Princess Camille is a character in the comic strip Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay. She is the daughter of King Morpheus, ruler of Slumberland who chooses Little Nemo, the main character of the series, as her official playmate throughout their adventures in the dream world of Slumberland.

In the comics, the Princess's character is very prominent and is always referred to as "the Princess". Nemo has been summoned to be her official playmate. Nemo was picked by the Princess to be the playmate and then was summoned by King Morpheus, under the Princess's influence. In the adventure Nemo takes throughout the comics, it takes him several weeks to meet up with her finally, as he keeps waking up and starting his adventure from where he last stopped off. It is important for Nemo to be her playmate as she is lonely and has no one to play with. Even at one point, before Nemo meets the Princess, Doctor Pill says that if she doesn't have a playmate soon, she will vanish into nothingness. There is also a romance between her and Nemo in the comics, despite their being so young.

In the Little Nemo movie, the Princess is a main stay character and definite love interest for Nemo. Like in the comics, Nemo has been summoned to be her official playmate. Though they have a rough start at the beginning, the Princess and Nemo become quick friends. When her father is kidnapped by the Nightmare King, she is part of the group that goes with Nemo to Nightmare Land to help rescue the King. At the end of the movie, when Nemo has to return to New York, the Princess is seen weeping a bit as she thanks Nemo for all he has done in ridding everyone of the Nightmare King.
