Princess Anne Wildlife Management Area
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Princess Anne Wildlife Management Area is a protected area located in Powhatan County, Virginia. Four tracts, 1546 acres in total, make up the area. Three - Beasely, Trojan, and Whitehurst - are located on the western shore of Back Bay, separated from the Atlantic Ocean by False Cape. The Pocahontas Tract, consisting of a number of marshy islands, is at the south end of the bay. A variety of communities may be found on both tracts, and water levels are manipulated to help promote the growth of food for waterfowl that migrate and winter in the area. Nesting structures are also used to bolster local populations.
