Prince Vlad & the Gargoyle Impalers were a Sydney-based indie rock psychedelic band active in the early to mid-80's,but they never released any records. The band consisted of: Michael Quinlan (musician) on vocals; Tim O'Reilly (musician) on bass guitar; Stephen McCowage on lead guitar; Alex Luksich on drums supplemented on occasions by Tim Spicer on keyboards.
Formed at St Patrick's College, Strathfield the band developed a very visual approach to its 60s inspired material much of which was drawn from the classic compilation of 60's garage band psychedelic rock "Nuggets". As well as original tracks such as the pop of "Strawberry Girls", the dark foreboding of "The Laughing Song" and the protest in "Loving Eyes" the band covered such classics as The Electric Prunes "(I had) too much to dream last night", The Monkees' "Mary Mary", "Circle Sky" and "For Pete's Sake", The Beatles "If I Needed Someone" ,The Doors "Love Street", The Count Five "Psychotic Reaction", The Grass Roots "I Get So Excited".
O'Reilly, McCowage and Quinlan went on to form The Mexican Spitfires.
