Prince George's Community College

Prince George's Community College is a community college located in the unincorporated community of Largo in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States.

Founded in 1958, Prince George's Community College will soon celebrate 50 years of serving Prince George's County and surrounding areas. Providing high quality educational opportunities for a richly diverse population, the college offers more than 200 academic, workforce development, continuing education, and personal enrichment programs. Many programs feature various distance learning options.

While the main campus is located in Largo, Prince George's Community College boasts additional sites at University Town Center in Hyattsville, Andrews Air Force Base and the Skilled Trades Center in Camp Springs. Additionally, the college shares an extension center with Howard Community College in Laurel called the Laurel College Center.

The school mascot and also the name of the student newspaper is The Owl.

Prince George's Community College serves more than 37,000 students. The student body is 76% African American, 64% female, and representative of more than 100 nations around the world. The average age of Prince George's students is 29.

In Spring of 2007, the College selected its first female president, Dr. Charlene Dukes.

Prince George's Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association and Maryland Junior College Athletic Conference. Eleven intercollegiate teams represent the college in the NJCAA and MD JUCO:

Chuck Trafton '72. Chuck works at a hedge fund where he covers the financial sector and wears jeans to work. He is the number 3 starter on his Over-Forty Men's Baseball team, which finished second in the Greater North Andover division in 2003. Chuck earned a BS in Business Administration from Boston College and his CMT license at some point thereafter (according to his email signature). He is an avid PGCC sports fan, as well as a supporter of basketball teams from Boston College, Georgetown, University of Maryland, Towson St., John's Hopkins and any team that happens to be playing Duke. He's met Joe Torre.
