Prince Eugén Napoleon Nicolaus of Sweden and Norway, Duke of Närke (August 1, 1865[1] – August 17, 1947[1]) was the youngest son of King Oscar II of Sweden and Norway. He was a famous painter, art collector and patron of artists. His residence, Waldemarsudde, on Djurgården in Stockholm, is now an art museum[2]. On 1904-01-21 Prince Eugen was appointed a Knight of the Norwegian lion by King Oscar II.[3]
