Primera División Uruguaya 2005

Primera División Uruguaya 2005 was started from March 5, 2005 to July 12, 2005.
The league changed to European style after the season, which started at August to next year June, but a winter league instead of summer due to Southern Hemisphere.
The league was a single round-robin tournament and not relegation and promotion from Segunda División Uruguay.
But along with Apertura 2005 of 2005-06 season, the whole schedule of 2005 would count in a final table, the bottom three would direct relegated.
Winners qualified for Copa Libertadores 2006.

Defensor Sporting refused to play the playoff due to Nacional won his last match by a contested penalty in 7th minute of injury time. Nacional was awarded the Champions on 6 July 2005.
