The Primera A is the second level of Panama's national club championship. It was founded in 1997 and it consists of 8 teams who play to gain promotion to ANAPROF. From 2008 the champion plays a playoff against the bottom team in the ANAPROF in order to gain promotion while the bottom team of the league is relegated to the Copa Rommel Fernandez. Before 2008 all champions were automatically promoted and the bottom team in ANAPROF automatically relegated.

  • There was no Primera A championship neither on 2002 nor on 2007. The 2007 championship was not played because only seven clubs were inscribed while eight were required by the regulations[1]
  • [*] Colon River F.C. won the Clausura and the overall championship, but Apertura winners Pan de Azúcar were also promoted
  • [**] Two leg final. Atletico Chiriqui won 5-2 the first leg and 3-0 the second leg
