Prima Donna is the name of an opera currently in the process of being written by Rufus Wainwright. It will be his first, and he is creating both the music and the libretto, which he says will be about "a day in the life of an opera singer."[1] There are four characters, and the libretto will be in French.[2]
The work has been commissioned by Metropolitan Opera general manager Peter Gelb.[3]
