Pride Lands (The Lion King)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Pride Lands are a fictional place from the Lion King] universe, where the main lion characters live. The Pride Lands are ultimately shown as the ideal place to live, since they have good prey for the lions, and much water to drink. They are the antithesis of the Outlands. They seem to be a place which causes extreme jealously to the others, since the hyenas in The Lion King, and the Outlanders in The Lion King II: Simba's Pride, want to defeat the King of the Pride Lands and live there. Somewhere in the center of the Pride Lands is Pride Rock, the home of the lions' pride.

[edit] The Lion King

The Pride Lands are first seen in the beginning of the first Lion King movie, where they are seen as the ideal place to live. They are seen like this for most of the movie, but, when Scar invites the hyenas to live there, the hyenas make an overuse of the resources of the Pride Lands, which, allied to a possible more intense dry season, causes the Pride Lands to look more like the Elephant Graveyard, or like the Outlands. Then, the lands are completely burned, as thunder causes all the burned plants to fire. After that, there is intense rain, and the pride lands are completely restored.

[edit] The Lion King II: Simba's Pride

In this sequel, the look of the Pride Lands is not too different from the one that we see in the first movie, with the exception that some area is burned by fire, possibly a consequence of Nuka and Vitani's actions. There is a somewhat rock area in the Pride Lands, where the Pridelanders and the Outlanders fight.

[edit] The Lion King 1½

In this midquel, the Pride Lands are in the same scenes that are in the first movie, but since the video is more about Timon and Pumbaa, the lands are not seen too much.
