[edit] Presa edit war
Hi there, I added a comment to the Presa page re edit wars and would appreciate your comments about the situation so maybe we can work something out. Cheers - Mr Bungle | talk 12:50, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Hi PresaDog, I'm writing to try to persuade you to help bring the situation over on the Perro_de_Presa_Canario page to a good conclusion for everyone. My feeling is that due to NPOV concerns coupled with the extensive coverage in the media, the information will be included somehow. I think that if you were to accept that, you could gain for yourself a lot more input on the final wording (editors will respect that you are able to rise above your interest as an owner/breeder of the dog).
Also as someone who obviously has a love for the breed, I think you should want a non-sensational airing of the issue. My reasoning is this: There are at least two types of owners who are most likely to make a breed look bad: (1) the nefarious type who seeks out the worst animals to abuse and bring out their worst traits (dog fighting and such) and (2) the naive type who don't know what they're getting into. There's is nothing to be done about #1, they will find what they want and commit abuses no matter what's on any wiki. But #2 (the naive type) can at least be educated -and wikipedia is capable of doing this pretty well.
So that's my appeal. I really want to get this over with so that we don't have to bring in mediation people or go to dispute resolution. Those things can work, but man, the time sink involved (as well as more feelings of acrimony or ill will -moreso than has been generated thus far). This page has already caught the eye of a few admins, in my limited experience, that just doesn't bode well.
Well, whatever you decide, I also want you to know that I have nothing against you and that I personally like dogs (I take care of one myself). And also that I have nothing against any breed or type (but my patience is short for anyone who overtly or through neglect hurts any animal/pet).
Sincerely,
