Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Pretty Mouth and Green My Eyes" is a short story written by J. D. Salinger for The New Yorker, collected in his Nine Stories. It details a phone conversation between two lawyers, in which one is distracted from his own romantic evening to hear about his friend's irksome wife. It is said to be a modern retelling of the King Arthur story.
The line "rose my color is and white, pretty mouth and green my eyes" was quoted by acclaimed indie rock and lo-fi artist P.J. Harvey in her song "Angelene" from the album Is This Desire?
