The Pretoria Muslim School now known as the Tshwane Muslim School was recently ranked in the top 100 schools in Gauteng.[citation needed] It is located in Laudium. It is a muslim school which uses the standard South African school syllabus and Islamic teachings.
The school was founded in 1990 by the Pretoria North Muslim Educational Institute.
The school governing body is headed by Mr Mohamed Dockrat. The headmaster is Mr Iqbal Areff who succeeded Mr Ibrahim Vawda in 2007.
Boasting some of the best teachers available such as Apa Waheeda Mohammed who was voted one of the top Maths teachers in Gauteng, it is no surprise that the Pretoria Muslim School can claim to have more students in their Matric class than any other Islamic school in Laudium. Their matriculants always achieve between a 90 And 100 percent pass rate and they have been recognised by the University of Pretoria as a 'top feeder school'.
TMS is a school that believes in giving back to the community. Students are constantly involved in charity projects in one form or another. No project is too big or to small. Be it collecting funds to provide blankets to the less fortunate during winter or collecting books to start up a library at a disadvantaged school, every project undertaken at this school is done with passion and enthusiasm.
The school is part of the Dar es Salaam Islamic Centre which incorporates the Dar es Salaam primary madresah , the Madresah Dar es Salaam ( Dar ul Uloom ) , the Tshwane Muslim pre-primary school , the 42nd Laudium Scout Group , the Islamic Careline , Dar es Salaam Islamic Research Centre , Tshwane Branch of the Jamiatul Ulama and Masjid al Salaam.
It is one of the most beautiful Islamic schools in Laudium providing students with a safe and comfortable environment in which to learn in.
