[edit] Formation
Precis Communications was formed in 2001 as a privately-held company. According to Precis Communications, the company's goal is to "Continue to grow our customer base in rural markets through strategic acquisition and ongoing analysis of cable system consolidation opportunities."
[edit] Services
Cable TV Precis Communications provides cable television service to all the markets they are in. In some areas this includes digital cable with more channels. However they do not offer their digital service in all areas.
Cable Internet Precis Communications offers broadband internet to only two areas: Moab, Utah and Price, Utah.
[edit] Plans to launch new services
Precis Communications is reportedly in the process of preparing to launch a VOIP phone service in the Price, Utah area and eventually, but probably much later, due to bandwidth issues, in the Moab, Utah area.
In 2007, Precis Communications increased internet speeds on their Power Surfer Package to 3 Mb/s in the Price, Utah area. In response, Emery Telcom, Precis' competition, announced they would raise their speeds to 6 Mb/s. Due to this, Precis Communications started testing a new 8 Mb/s speed tier. Precis Communications officially launched the new 8 Mb/s tier on December 21, 2007 with the package name "Power Surfer Extreme".
Due to bandwidth issues after launching their 8 Mb/s service tier in the Price, Utah area, on May 1st, 2008, Precis reportedly upgraded their system, doubling their total bandwidth across all their circuits in the Price, Utah area.
