This is a graph of world installed wind power capacity for 1997 through 2010, including past data and future projections. This copyrighted image was provided to Wikipedia by the World Wind Energy Association: permission was given to post the image "free of use", with the condition that attribution be clearly given. Note that "installed capacity" refers to the electrical production of the turbines if they were operated at full power; in use, the actual amount of power produced is less than full capacity by a value called the capacity factor, which depends on the wind velocity profile.
