It is sad to see public knowledge bank like Wiki are being moderated by people, having no respect for hacker and hacking culture.

[edit] Hacker culture

You are mistaken about the purpose of wikipedia. We are not here to support or oppose hackers. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. One of our pillars is the policy of verifiability. Wikipedia is not a forum where you can advertise your cause against Ankit Fadia. Ankit Fadia is called a hacker in the Indian media, and thus wikipedia also has to call him a hacker. If tomorrow everyone in the world decides that the sky is red, then wikipedia will change it's articles to say that the sky is red. - Aksi_great (talk) 07:39, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hacking was always meant to be like same

Hacking was always mean to be same as I or other hacker propose. It is nothing to do with cracking or break-into the systems. It was and will always associated with good people with good cause. It's media fault that it brought down the status of hacking or hackers by it's prejudiced thinking. RMS (don't dare to ask, who is RMS) was so pissed of with this foolishness of media, he wrote an open latter to the editor of Wall Street Journal. You can read the latter [here], if you care. But I am sure, you are not going to read it, as someone rightly said, " It's easy to wake up a sleeping man, but very difficult to some pretending it".

The excuse, you gave " Ankit Fadia is called a hacker in the Indian media, and thus wikipedia also has to call him a hacker. If tomorrow everyone in the world decides that the sky is red, then wikipedia will change it's articles to say that the sky is red." is utter nonsense. Do you think technically illiterate Indian media can affect the dictionary meaning of hacker ? You have some good reputation among wikipedia users, don't bring down your name. So, grow up !

The Wikipedia article doesn't say that he is a hacker. It just says that he claims to be a hacker (hence the section is called "Hacking claims"). utcursch | talk 11:47, 14 December 2006 (UTC)
