Talk:Prairie lake

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The phrase "prairie lake" appears to have different regional meanings. In Minnesota, a prairie lake is just a lake on the prairie, what we call a "prairie pothole" around here; distinct from lakes of the forest or mountain lakes in the types of vegetation, topography, and sediments. According to this article one should expect such a lake to dry up or drain away periodically, but that isn't the expectation in the upper midwest. Either we need separate articles, or we need to divide this one into sections. 65.183.254.241 20:14, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

The proper definition of a prairie pothole can be found here. We definitely need to clarify the difference between types of prairie lakes.Spottacus 00:56, 2 September 2007 (UTC)
