Pratten Park
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pratten Park is a sporting complex in the Sydney suburb of Ashfield featuring an oval playing field large enough to play cricket, a lawn bowling club and a tennis club. The Park is best known as the original home of the Western Suburbs Magpies rugby league team, who played there for around half a century before moving west to Lidcombe Oval. The ground is still home to the Western Suburbs Cricket Club, a club that has had Michael Clarke and Bob Simpson among its playing ranks over the years. In the past, Pratten Park has also hosted NSW league and National Soccer League games.
Pratten Park is very simple in its facilities. There is a small grandstand in the north-western corner with the rest of the ground surrounded by grass hills. For several years the grandstand had fallen into disrepair and had been closed; but restoration work saw it re-opened in late 2007.
