Prasanna (actor)

Prasanna (born June 8, 1979) is an upcoming Tamil actor, who was born in a middle class family in Trichy. His father was an employee in a bank and his mother is a housewife. Prasanna was really good at doing mimicry and acting, when he was in school and college. This quality of our young star got him the first opportunity. He was still a student of engineering when he responded to an open audition for actors in Susi Ganesan's Five Star. An unusual and refreshing film dealing with friendship, Five Star marked Prasanna's film debut. The film was produced by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies; it was well received by critics and performed modestly at the box office.

Prasanna's next two films, however, did not fare well commercially. After Five Star, his noteworthy performance came in Azhagiya Theeye. The film, involving an ensemble cast, was produced by Prakash Raj's Duet Films and directed by Radhamohan. It was once again with a Prakash Raj production - Kanda Naal Muthal - that Prasanna tasted true commercial success. The film was directed by Priya V. and costarred Laila and Karthik Kumar. Prasanna is currently working in director G. Marimuthu's Kannum Kannum, costarring Malayalam actress Udayatara.
