Prairie View is located at 39°49′54″N, 99°34′24″W (39.831737, -99.573324)[3].

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.2 square miles (0.4 km²), all of it land.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 141 people, 63 households, and 43 families residing in the city. The population density was 926.2 people per square mile (362.9/km²). There were 77 housing units at an average density of 505.8/sq mi (198.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.87% White and 2.13% Native American. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.13% of the population.

There were 63 households out of which 27.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.7% were married couples living together, and 31.7% were non-families. 31.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 27.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.24 and the average family size was 2.81.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.1% under the age of 18, 5.0% from 18 to 24, 17.7% from 25 to 44, 19.1% from 45 to 64, and 34.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 49 years. For every 100 females there were 93.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.7 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $35,625, and the median income for a family was $36,250. Males had a median income of $30,625 versus $31,250 for females. The per capita income for the city was $16,912. There were 4.8% of families and 7.3% of the population living below the poverty line, including no under eighteens and 11.9% of those over 64.
