Praia is a municipality in Cape Verde, located South in Santiago island. It is the municipality where lays the capital from Cape Verde, the city of Praia. More than 90% of its population lives in the city of Praia, being the rest constituted by scarcely populated settlements.

In 2005, two parishes from the older municipality were detached to make up the municipality of Ribeira Grande de Santiago.
