Prague Stock Exchange

The Prague Stock Exchange or PSE (Czech: Burza cenných papírů Praha, a.s. or BCPP) is the main securities market organiser in the Czech Republic and currently (as of September 2005) the second biggest stock exchange in Central and Eastern Europe. Although the first exchange operated in Prague already in 1861, present-day PSE was established on November 24, 1992 and trading started on April 6, 1993.
The Exchange is based on membership principle which means that only licenced securities traders which are Exchange members have access into the Exchange trading system. Through its members the Exchange organizes the supply of and demand for listed securities, investment instruments, alternatively other capital market instruments of the capital market within the extent of the permission issued by the Securities Commission.
All activities of the Exchange and its members are under regulation and surveillance of the Securities Commission. Security and reliability of Exchange trading is provided by internal legislative framework (Exchange rules) which are fully harmonised with the EU standards. Settlement of trades concluded on the Exchange is ensured by the Exchange subsidiary UNIVYC, a.s. Trading is secured by the Exchange Guarantee Fund.
The Exchange offers to its clients two basic trading systems:
- trading system SPAD for big and medium investors
- trading modules auction and continual for small investors

Since 1993, the RM–SYSTÉM has been active at the securities market as an organiser of off-exchange trading. As its activities are based on a user principle, no limitations exist in accessing the market. Any individual or company, Czech or foreign, can utilise the services provided by the Company. The activities of RM-S have been authorised by the Czech capital markets regulator - the Czech Securities Commission. The Company is headquartered in Prague.
