Prabhat Tara High School is a top class middle and high school in Ranchi. Located in pictureque Dhurwa, this school was started by christian missionaries in 1974 to educate kids of tribals and poor. The quality of teaching and discipline caught up with others and many kids from better background enrolled. The first batch took the matriculation exam in 1983 and 95% of students secured 1st class. The batch that took the matriculation exam in 1985 was the best one. Antesh and Arvind secured 1st position. Several ex students of this scohool have become engineers and doctors. Many of them have migrated to USA and other Eurpian countries. Sister Adal was very good at enforcing discipline. Math teacher Nizamudin Khan was very good. Anthony Horo started so many activities at the school and was always popular with students. Pramath Nath Mishra was a good story teller. The school has a nice building, a state of art auditorium, library, and science lab. Other schools like Sishu Mandir, St. Jones, St. Thomas etc pale in comparison to this school.
