Average payment to family physicians

Physician service to LTC in Canada is reimbursed primarily through fee for service and varies from province to province. Non FFS models exist but are less common and less popular with physicians. Since regionalization in 1995 Alberta no longer distinguishes between auxilary hospitals and nursing homes. The rates above are for all LTC facilities ( or Continuing Care centres as they are often referred to ). Does not include rehab and recovery, palliative or personal care homes. {1} CIHI National Physician Database Average Payment per physician report 2001-2002 Average payments to family physicians who received at least $60,000 in payments
