Poynter Hill

Poynter Hill (63°46′S, 59°6′W) is a conspicuous hill, 825 m, standing 8 nautical miles (15 km) east-southeast of Cape Kjellman on the west side of Trinity Peninsula. Charted in 1948 by the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS). Named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) (1950) after Mr. Poynter, Master's Mate, who accompanied Edward Bransfield on the brig Williams in January 1820 when explorations were made in the South Shetland Islands and Bransfield Strait.
