Talk:Power rules
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Didn't know if this is important enough to merit a new section, since most texts and teachers gloss it over.
For n=1, the power rule requires a small caveat: the derivative is 1 at all values of x, which seems to be in agreement with the power rule [x1]’ = 1x0. However, this expression is indeterminate at x=0. A similar caution applies to n=0: the derivative is zero for all x, yet the power rule gives [x0]’ = 0x-1 which is indeterminate at x=0. 198.99.123.63 19:13, 18 May 2007 (UTC)
