Powershift 2007 is the first ever national youth summit on global warming and environmental protection. It was held from Nov 2- Nov 5 at University of Maryland – College Park. Over 6,000 College students and young people traveled from all over the country to attend workshops, speeches, meetings, etc on how to propose new legislation to Congress for governmental intervention, stopping corporate destructions, and side topics on anti-racism and anti-oppression. Students met with their district representatives and state senators to urge for support of the 1 Sky Campaign (Green jobs, No Coal, etc). Students also held a rally on Nov 5, the last day of the summit, to garner support from Congress for new environmental-friendly bills to be passed.
