Power of the Keys
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Power of the Keys, power claimed, according to Matthew 16: 19, by the authorities of the Church to admit or exclude from church membership and to set church policy and dogma, a power the Roman Catholics allege conferred at first on St. Peter and afterwards on his successors in office. Orthodox Christians believe that the power of the keys is conferred on all bishops to a certain extent.[1]
