Powelliphanta gilliesi jamesoni, known as one of the amber snails, is a subspecies of large, carnivorous land snail, a terrestrial pulmonate gastropod mollusc in the family Rhytididae.

This subspecies is endemic to the South Island of New Zealand, in the West Nelson area.
[edit] Shell coloration
The shell coloration is russet, spirally lined, and radially streaked with darker brown. The shell has a dark grey and smooth parietal callus.
The major diameter is up to 45 mm, and height up to 24 mm.
