Pouria (پوریا in Persian) is a Persian given name for males. The name means "The Son of a Great Person" in Persian, since "Poor" means "Son", and "Ya" is the transformed form of "Baay" which means a great person or a boss, so that the phrase "Poorbaay" has been transformed to a single word, "Poorya", which is commonly spelled Pouria using the English alphabet.

Pouria was the name of an Iranian wrestling champion and this is the oldest use of this name.
