Template talk:POTD

Template:POTD is permanently protected from editing, as it is a heavily used or visible template.

Substantial changes should be proposed here, and made by administrators if the proposal is uncontroversial, or has been discussed and is supported by consensus. Use {{editprotected}} to attract the attention of an administrator in such cases.
This template does not have a documentation subpage. If the template page contains categories, interwiki links or usage notes, move these to Template:POTD/doc. If the template does not require documentation, add |doc=no to this template ({{permprot}}).

Steps for converting regular Template:Pic of the day format to condensed Template:POTD format.

  1. Remove width=600 tag,
  2. Change colspan="2" to colspan="1"
  3. Wipe text (save title),
  4. add |---- just below pic line,
  5. copy colspan line below |----,
  6. add title with <br> tag

[edit] Recent unpleasantness

A weird record lock in the database was breaking the ability to edit this page. I'm not totally sure what the cause of this was, but I've worked around it for now by trimming a link record that lead to it. --Brion 23:07, July 11, 2005 (UTC)

Every time I see this report and come by to look at it, it seems to have fixed itself. I updated the Main Page code to skip the intermediate {{POTD protected}} template and go straight to the day's template, which might eliminate that error. howcheng {chat} 06:50, 10 May 2007 (UTC)
