Pothole Skinny
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Pothole Skinny is a music group consisting of Stephen Connolly, Mark Dagley, Scott Freyer, and Frank Murphy. Based out of Jersey City, New Jersey. Pothole Skinny was formulated by Stephen with a purpose to forge a group with a focus on folk song, instrumental compositions, and improvisation. Prior to gathering the current line-up, the "Pothole Skinny" banner was used by Stephen for solo song work, private cassette releases, and CDr releases... eventually assisting in the birth of Stephen's label Perhaps Transparent Records.
After a recommendation from friend Pat Gubler (PG Six), Stephen met up with Pat’s Tower Recordings’ band mate Scott Freyer. Quickly after, friends Frank Murphy and Mark Townsend agreed on joining in to create and nurture Pothole Skinny. Mark Townsend left after a short time, but still appears as a guest on occasions. After the release of “Time Shapes the forest Lake”, local Abaton Books’ artist and Punk/Experimental Veteran Mark Dagley (The Girls) was coaxed into sliding his hand into the fold and has since become one of the key members.
Other musical projects and/or collaborations include: Tower Recordings, PG Six, Your Team Ring, Two Dollar Guitar, Emerald Tablets, Marianne Nowottny, Julia Vorontsova, and various improvisational collaborations.
