Potamidae is a family of freshwater crabs. Its more than 500 species and 74 genera are divided into two subfamilies β€” Potaminae around the Mediterranean Sea, on Socotra and eastwards to Northern India, and Potamiscinae in East Asia [1]. In includes species such as Potamon potamios and the Maltese freshwater crab.
