- It's unlikely, but {{PD-US-1923-abroad}} might apply to some of these. Do you know if any of the paintings were reprinted before 1923? —Remember the dot (talk) 23:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

- No, this isn't copyrighted in America. Iranian copyright is void in the United States. The "has to be free in US and country of origin" rule only applies to Commons AFAIK. ViperSnake151 17:59, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Actually, Wikipedia recognizes those copyrights even if the U.S. doesn't. See WP:PD#Countries without copyright treaties with the U.S.. Kelly hi! 23:23, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Bo ryan the man.jpg
Uploader unlikely to hold the copyright, possibly unfree and probably meant for vandalism. This image got my attention since the uploader described the subject of the image as also a "professional vampire" on the image description page[1], and then vandalised the article of the subject by stating that he has "not once seeing his reflection".[2] — Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:25, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Delete. Found duplicate here. Image URL reveals it's a Getty image. MSNBC seems to sort their image directory by the company who took the picture. See the credit for the first picture in this article and its URL - both have "Getty". Likewise, see the credits for the AP picture here and its URL, which has "AP Mega Sports", the division of AP that provides multimedia services. Notice the pattern? It's definitely a copyrighted picture and should be deleted. We can easily find a replaceable free use picture. BlueAg09 (Talk) 04:52, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

As pointed out here, the uploader probably doesn't own the copyright for this image. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:34, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- Note: The name of the uploading acount, Desk1 (talk · contribs) matches the name of the book's author and publisher, Des Kilfeather. Further, Desk1 repeatedly claimed to be Des Kilfeather and to have taken the pictures himself [3]. Someguy1221 (talk) 04:50, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I had originally brought the topic up myself, but after a closer look I agree with Someguy1221 that everything seems to indicate that the uploader is indeed the copyright holder. There's also an e-mail address on the image page, but of course I don't know if it's still being used. --Ibn Battuta (talk) 06:52, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:LucienDurosoiratage28.jpg
Tagged {{PD-self}}; summary is "made it myself, no copyright". This is a photograph of Lucien Durosoir, apparently when he was 28 years old, which means that it was taken about 1906. This almost certainly means it's in the public domain, but without knowing when and where it was first published, it's hard to say which public domain tag should be used. The current tag, {{PD-self}}, is probably not appropriate (unless the uploader can show he or she was the photographer who took this photo 102 years ago). —Bkell (talk) 05:21, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

- Just so you'd know, this image is not readily available anywhere except at an Republic of Singapore Air Force OPEN HOUSE, those you might find at the official Republic of Singapore Air Force website are too small to be decipherable. I beleive the same too. The pic seems to be taken by some professionals for other uses. uploader has to submit the proof of Copyrights, otherwise it'll breach wiki sstandards. (Nubin_wiki (talk) 10:57, 2 May 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Image:Rob.jpg
Uploaded with the summary "A picture of Robbie Engelquist.", unfortunately it overwrite an existing image so we only have the license info from the first image, wich was in turn overwritten by something else. There are like 3 distinctly different images in the history stack here, that's what you get for using a generic name I guess. Anyway I reverted to the version of the image that seems to relate to the article it's currenty used it but there is basicaly no copyright info here. Needs an update and the exess versions needs to be purged. Sherool (talk) 19:27, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Uploader claims to be copyright holder of the image, even though it's the logo of a supposed secret society. When I asked them on their Talk page how they can be the copyright holder, they removed my question without response. Corvus cornixtalk 23:16, 30 March 2008 (UTC)
