[edit] Image:TomMerrit.gif

This image is listed as licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 2.5 license, but as it is property of CNET Networks, it is unlikely to actually be licensed as such, and no evidence of that license is given. The uploader says that permission was given by Tom Merritt, but Mr. Merritt wouldn't have any copyright over this image and would not be able to grant permission for use. Even if he has granted permission, no evidence of this has been given. Alexbrewer{talk} 00:57, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Comment I had asked Tom Merritt BEFORE uploading the image through an email. Here is a transcript of the email.

from Tom Merritt <email hidden>

Yes, you have my explicit permission to upload any of my visages throughout the univers in per[petuity under the terms of the Creative Commons ShareAlike 2.5 license.

In other words, no problem.

This was done on February 15, 2006. Thanks, --Hohohob (talk) 06:24, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

  • Response I'll reiterate, it doesn't matter if Tom gave any permissions. He wouldn't have any copyright over pictures of himself. The photographer, or assumedly in this case CNET Networks, would need to give permission specifically for all pictures. Thanks, Alexbrewer{talk} 07:57, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
  • If you're so concerned about it, how about you (or an admin) put the image up for CSD I3 and I'll upload a new image licenced CC-BY-SA 2.0? That should sort the problem out.--Hohohob (talk) 23:42, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image contributions by User:Paddy More

User:Paddy More has uploaded a number of photos and claimed them to be his own work. A careful study has revealed that many of the photos were stolen either from Flickr.com or other websites:

  • Image:Maryblacklive.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link).
  • Image:Gatetheatre.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link).
  • Image:Antor2.JPG was downloaded from Flickr.com (link).
  • Image:Aghlamore.jpg was downloaded from mountainviews.ie.
  • Image:Aghlabeg.jpg was downloaded from mountainviews.ie.
  • Image:Mickeyjoeharte.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)
  • Image:Letterkennynight.jpg was downloaded from donegalholidaycottates.co.uk.
  • Image:Machairerabhartaigh2.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)
  • Image:Tommytiernan.jpg was downloaded from hairyfish.org.
  • Image:Crocknal.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)
  • Image:Anagaire.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)
  • Image:Doloreslive.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)
  • Image:Errigalview.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)
  • Image:Clonmany.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)
  • Image:Buncranastreet.jpg was downloaded from Flickr.com (link)

Paddy More claimed that he was the copyright holder for Image:Moyabrennanbeo.jpg and that the photo was taken in 2007. It is in fact a photo from flickr where it was uploaded in December 2006.

Paddy More also claimed that he took the photo Image:Daniellive.jpg and that it showed Daniel O'Donnell in Dungloe, Donegal, Éire in August, 2005. The truth is that it was a photo of O'Donnell on his first US tour in May 2003 (link).

A few photos that Paddy More has uploaded under a free license remains. These should be deleted as well, since he has already shown that his claims that he is the photographer can not be taken for granted:

Thuresson, this is an absolute joke, the amount of time that I've spent donating MY OWN pictures to this site and then they get deleted, it's disgusting and I'm reconsidering my work on Wikipedia. This has to stop, now. --Paddy More (talk) 16:45, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:PrivateSniper-TF2 Wallpaper.jpg

This image seems to be a copyright problem, as it contains copyrighted material (screenshot and logo) and is only used on a userpage. Poeloq (talk) 06:01, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Dreyfus in Shot in the Dark.jpg

Screenshot of copyrighted film. I'd tag it as a blatant copyvio had I been able to find the original, but I couldn't (and it's possible that uploader made the screenshot). Uploader has history of mistagging non-free images as multi-licensed GFDL-CC: [1] [2] [3] [4] Kelvinc (talk) 11:06, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Shit Pickle.jpg

Screenshot of copyrighted film. I'd re-tag it as fair use (identification of copyrighted character) had I been able to find the original, but I couldn't (and it's possible that uploader made the screenshot). Uploader has history of mistagging non-free images as multi-licensed GFDL-CC: [5] [6] [7] [8]. Kelvinc (talk) 11:06, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

tagged pd self, but the description says "free use on Wikipedia". What does that mean? If only wikipedia is allowed to use the image it is not in the public domain. Rettetast (talk) 15:46, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Defunes01.jpg

Doubtful if it is self made (instead of self scanned) plus permission seems to be Wikipedia only. Garion96 (talk) 22:34, 20 January 2008 (UTC)

Many of the contributions from this user are copyrighted photos from Flickr.com. Thuresson (talk) 02:39, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
