Self licensing is being challenged. Jusjih (talk) 02:37, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

As Jorge Luis Borges died in 1986, need comment as to the copyright status of the texts. Jusjih (talk) 02:49, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- I believe this text is from the Book of Imaginary Beings, published in 1957 and most likely under copyright protection. The text could only be used as fair use and that would not qualify in the article on microtypography. -Nv8200p talk 21:36, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

The uploader cites a web page which allows free copying of "information posted on a [Texas] state agency Web site" (under certain restrictions), but it is not clear if this applies to the whole web site of the University of North Texas, where this image was taken from (does this university qualify as a "state agency" in the sense of that page? On its own web site I couldn't find such a copyright remark). It would certainly be great if we could freely use all content that the UNT puts online, but I think the situation needs further evaluation before we can take this for granted. (And then it might be worthwhile to create a template for this.) High on a tree (talk) 04:52, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- On the university's home page( http://www.unt.edu/ ) at the bottom of the page it has a link titled 'Link Policy' to the above-mentioned State of Texas Link Policy page, which I would think applies to all content on the University's website, including this image. Smeggysmeg (talk) 02:07, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
- Image deleted This link policy does grant permission to use text or images from the site freely (from a Wikipedia point-of-view). The last line of section D states "To protect the intellectual property of state agencies, copied information must reflect the copyright, trademark, service mark or other intellectual property rights of the state agency whose protected information is being used by the site owner." -Nv8200p talk 22:00, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Bracha Lichtenberg Ettinger - 2007 - berlin.jpg
Almost the same as Image:Bracha2007 black white.jpg. Uploaded by a new user, possibly a sockpuppet of User:Marina T.. Amir E. Aharoni (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 22:33, 12 January 2008 (UTC)
- Comment - it was very likely created by the same flickr user who posted all of the pictures accessible at http://flickr.com/search/?q=Bracha+Lichtenberg. Currently, I am in contact with this user on my talk page about fixing up the licenses. Apparently Maria T and this flickr user have been in contact before. I believe I have verified this for at least one other image: Image:Robert Doisneau photographed by Bracha L. Ettinger in his studio in Montrouge, 1992.jpg. - Looks problematic. Might be a sockpuppet. I wouldn't trust anonymous users so easily. Anyone can open a Flickr account with that name. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 21:21, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I have received an email confirming that Ms. Ettinger allowed the uploads. OTRS is pending; please do not delete. Thanks. The Evil Spartan (talk) 21:30, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- OK, i'm good with that. Sorry about the hassle. --Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 21:36, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
