[edit] Image:Siberian Shaman.jpg
The editor who has posted this also claims the copyright. The artist, however is still alive. It is unclear if the editor is also the creator of this image. Freshacconci | Talk 00:32, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- I received a message regarding this image to my talk page:
Images:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Possibly_unfree_images/2007_October_9#Image:Siberian_Shaman.jpg You have tagged these image as possibly being unfree. As I have already stated: as the author I am with in my rights to place them under the GFDL images category. To clarify I am the author of the images posted on Wikipedia. I am not Sivkov. It appears that in the course of maintaining the integrity of this sight you have jumped to unfounded conclusions. - It is clear to me that since this person is not the artists Sivkov, even if they did take the photograph, they cannot release it under the GFDL because the subject matter/content of the photograph is copyright. That's like saying I could simply photograph the Wal-mart logo and then use it for my business because I was the creator of the photograph. I'll try to contact the user to explain this.-Andrew c [talk] 22:38, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

- Here is some more info. The person claims that they bought the artist's work and that they own this painting. That changes thing, but I am not familiar enough with copyright law to know if transfer of ownership applies here (it probably does. I know that it's highly probable that IBM owns their own logo, not the artist who created it Paul Rand).-Andrew c [talk] 23:09, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

- See [1]. This photo is clearly a copyvio and I have deleted it as such.-Andrew c [talk] 14:07, 11 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:MDST airport diagram.png
User is most likely a sock of User:Migssant who was banned for uploading copyrighted material. It seems very unlikely that this image was user created. The resolution is low, it looks professional, and there is no explanation on the software or process on how it was created. Andrew c [talk] 22:06, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- An anon (most likely the same user) removed the PUI tag and added that the copyright belonged to a webpage. The link however didn't even include the image. Regardless, it is clear that the GFDL-self tag is wrong. I'm willing to delete as a copyvio, but since I already started this PUI, I'll wait it out and see if anyone thinks this image can be used fair-use. Images like Image:DTW airport map.png exist, but since we don't have the source, we cannot tell for sure if it was created by the FAA.-Andrew c [talk] 14:52, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
