almost certainly from http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/755130.stm, but maybe we can claim fair use? he's currently serving a life sentence Calliopejen1 00:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Image seems to be cropped from photo at the bottom on this page: http://www.jetmag.co.nz/LinkClick.aspx?link=417&tabid=210&mid=548Imroy 03:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Jonny Toogood in Full Flight.jpg

Photo includes copyright text at top. It was uploaded by the same new user as the two previous photos. He/she probably doesn't understand copyright and is just uploading photos from other websites as "public domain" — Imroy 03:57, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:QiQi.jpg

I doubt that the cited page is the source, and think that this photo is used under fair use there. It also looks like this page has nothing granting permission under the GFDL. Jesse Viviano 05:55, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

uploader has a long history of not understanding copyright -- zzuuzz (talk) 16:41, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

Now on Commons, but it's the same image and will have the same problems. -- RG2 00:20, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Silenozdimmu2.JPG

Uploader has been banned on two accounts for copyright infringement - for example, he has a long history of claiming to have photographed a band when in fact he hasn't. For such evidence, admins can refer to Image:Galderdimmu.JPG which is one such example of how he has done this. LuciferMorgan 17:35, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

I feel this is another case where he's claiming to have owned copyright of another's pictures. LuciferMorgan 17:35, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

this is a map generated using an online tool. does anyone know enough about this sort of law and the way the program works to know if this is a free image or is copyrighted by the website still? there are many many similar images, so please give feedback if you have any. Calliopejen1 19:39, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

This map was generated using the public domain GMT - GMT is used worldwide without restriction. Here is the author's statement if this helps in deciding whether this is free or unfree. Let me know what you think:
... the GMT, a public domain collection of UNIX tools that contains a variety of programs. These programs allow users to manipulate (x,y) and (x,y,z) data (such as filtering, trend fitting, gridding, projecting, etc.) and to make Encapsulated PostScript File (EPS) illustrations, including simple x-y diagrams, contour maps, color images, and artificially illuminated, perspective, shaded-relief plots using a variety of map projections ... http://www.agu.org/eos_elec/95154e.html Caltrop 03:20, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
Just checked my notes and the software I used in Linux and the datasets are all GFDL, take a look and see if you agree:
GMT is an open source collection of ~60 tools for manipulating geographic and Cartesian data sets (including filtering, trend fitting, gridding, projecting, etc.) and producing Encapsulated PostScript File (EPS) illustrations ranging from simple x-y plots via contour maps to artificially illuminated surfaces and 3-D perspective views. GMT supports ~30 map projections and transformations and comes with support data such as coastlines, rivers, and political boundaries. GMT is developed and maintained by Paul Wessel and Walter H. F. Smith with help from a global set of volunteers, and is supported by the National Science Foundation. It is released under the GNU General Public License ... data from the US national data centers (NOAA, USGS, NGDC, NEIC) can be used with GMT, and they are all freely available from these centers and individuals via the internet ... http://gmt.soest.hawaii.edu/
Hope this helps Caltrop 21:26, 2 October 2007 (UTC)

Previously deleted as a copyvio, looks like the uploader has just picked tags until he got one that didn't mark it for deletion, no proof that it's got a valid license Stifle (talk) 21:00, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
