Permission is given for use "for Governor Minner’s Wikipedia entry". Uploader states permission was intended to be broader and is seeking clarification, and hopefully an unequivocal GFDL release.  But|seriously|folks  02:56, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Warsaw Ghetto mass grave, 1941.jpg

As it says on the talk page: "The image description reads: "He kept the images to himself until 1982 when he met Guenther Schwarberg, a reporter for "Der Stern" magazine, who interviewed him and facilitated the publication of some of his images in 1988" However, the copyright notice says: "This work is in the public domain in the United States because it was first published in the United States without copyright notice prior to 1978, which causes the work to be irrevocably in the Public Domain." If the images were first published in 1988, Germany, how could this one be published in the United States prior to 1978? Seems like a contradiction to me." Liftarn 14:08, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

  • I uploaded it as {{Non-free fair use in|Warsaw concentration camp}}. Someone else changed it to PD. I would just change it back. — BRIAN0918 • 2007-11-06 14:48Z
    • Ah, I should have checked that. // Liftarn

[edit] Image:Katyn3.jpg

It says it was "published by German propaganda", how can it be PD-US then? Liftarn 14:12, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

    • - Could be captured German imagery, thereafter stored in US Archives. - Ajaypp (talk) 12:08, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

The original image here, though different, was uploaded by the same person and was speedied as non-free; chances are this isn't a self-made one but is a copyvio as well. Stifle (talk) 21:40, 6 November 2007 (UTC)

That sure looks like a news media photo. --B (talk) 06:25, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
