When you upload pictures, choose "It is a screenshot taken of a movie, TV program, computer game, web site, computer program, music video, or other such source". That will make sure the image is tagged correctly. Besides that, would it be possible to get a screenshot that is not watermarked? Watermarked screenshots are discouraged because the watermark is unnecessary copyrighted material. —Remember the dot (talk) 18:46, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

See the license. Their restriction in this regard appears to be to disallow distributions solely for disseminating their artwork, which would presumably be blow-ups of their vector-based icons. They consider that their icons should be treated as fonts. — RJH (talk) 17:03, 19 November 2007 (UTC)

Well, it's definitely not released under the GFDL as the uploader states. From the license...
...you may freely distribute the maps you create using OUR ARTWORK in CC3 format, but not the source image files (PNG and bitmap artwork) associated with them. You may freely distribute flat files (for example BMP and PNG) exported from CC3 containing OUR ARTWORK. You may publish such maps for commercial gain."
You may not redistribute any map that in our sole opinion is, or appears to be, for the purpose of disseminating OUR ARTWORK. Think of your maps as documents, and our symbols as fonts. You can print a document containing Times New Roman font, but you can't give the font file away, or produce a "font book"...
Terribly written EULA. I mean, I don't even know what to change the GFDL tag to. Regardless, fair use applies, as no free alternative can exist. Edit: At least it does if the license gets corrected. Rocket000 (talk) 13:34, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

No to use a copyleft license, it must be explicitly stated that it is released under one. It's going to be some form of the normal copyright license (©). I have no idea if we even have a suitable template. You may have to improvise, but I'll take a look at what we got. Rocket000 (talk) 18:10, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Honestly, the safest (and easiest) route to take is just to say it's copyrighted and used with permission under ProFantasy's license. You already have the terms listed. You don't even have to make a template (unless you want to). Rocket000 (talk) 09:03, 25 November 2007 (UTC)
I'm not finding a suitable template for that scenario. I don't want it to be held down to the tighter restrictions of fair use licensing, and other comparable licenses have been deprecated. Could we add a general template for circumstances where a software-generated image is released for general use under the terms of a copyright license ("specified below...")? — RJH (talk) 18:01, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
