- The image should be fine to use. Just tag it as non-free, and comply with the rules at WP:NFCC and WP:FURG. Should take no more than 10 minutes to write a short fair use rationale. -Nard 14:07, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- My god that image page is now covered in all manner of tags.... In the end it needs a single fair use logo tag and full fair use rationale - everything else needs removing! This was originally marked as unfree. When I tagged it as replaceable because we already have a free image of Walter Scheel and he's still alive, it was changed to PD. Pictures of German presidents are not PD that I'm aware. Most countries only make the text of their laws and court decisions PD, not the accompanying images. -Nard 13:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- I changed the tag, relying on a section in de.wikipedia's official work, and advised Nard. Although I believe the item is PD because of the Munich court case, I did not put link the image pending outcome of discussion. de.wikipedia quotes a legal jounal saying copyright might exist, and the court case with a copyright free opinion. - I think you should take this to Commons, if you believe it might be PD. We are very ignorant of German law on English Wikipedia, and I for one am not willing to accept "might be PD" without a better understanding of the issues, which is impossible because I don't speak German. Your claims sound like unacceptable original research to one such as myself. On Commons there are other German speakers and people educated on German law.
