[edit] Image:Kurzweil gates boat.jpg

The uploader asserts that they own the copyright, but the uploader inserted the image into Bill Gates#Bill Gates in books, which implies that the uploader does not own the copyright. —Remember the dot (talk) 02:18, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

I inserted the picture into the book section, because I'm showing the relationship between the author, Kurzweil and his realtionship to Gates.

OTRS confirmation? Jusjih (talk) 03:07, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

What is OTRS? I have scanned and uploaded the picture which was given to me for this purpose by Miss Lakeman's executor, E.M. Syddique, specifically for this purpose and with his agreement to put it in the public domain. Woblosch (talk) 15:49, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
Please forward the agreement to permissions-en at wikimedia.org as evidence. Any volunteer acknowledging your evidence will remove the deletion nomination in the image page.--Jusjih (talk) 22:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
E.M.Syddique, the copyright holder, gave me the permission verbally. He is not himself on line and is not a computer user. Are you saying I have to get him to produce a physical piece of paper, or what? What form do you want the permission to take? I find it mystifying that we have to make such heavy weather over this matter. Woblosch (talk) 10:59, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
Please see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Since the owner/author is not a computer user, having them sign a form with the appropriate language or hand-write and then scan the document will be sufficient. A verbal permission would not stand up in court for these purposes. MECUtalk 15:16, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Flickr source is licensed to cc-by-nc-sa-2.0 as I see today. Jusjih (talk) 03:10, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Warren_G_by_Frank.jpg

The source says"all rights reserved" without cc licensing today. Jusjih (talk) 03:24, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Phillp2.gif

Uploader blanked the page unexplained. Jusjih (talk) 03:30, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:PPTParadigmShiftsFrr15Events.jpg

This image and friends used on Accelerating change. There is no statement of license or copyright anywhere on the original page. AzaToth 04:00, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

I also checked on the other websites owned by the copyright holder, I see no similar statement. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:08, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
There should be a way we can ask Ray directly. His other related images, Image:PPTCountdowntoSingularityLinear.jpg for one, appear to be licensed under cc by (version 1) so it would be a shame to see this image deleted without confirming this image is indeed under a different license. Do we have a specific link to the location of this image on kurweilai.net? Theflyer (talk) 06:01, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
In 2005 I obtained permission from his office to use his images under an open license on Wikipedia (briefly: Piotrus sends a long explanation of why he wants to use some of their images under open license on Wiki, receives reply "This should be okay."; previously they asked to be credited as "Coutesy of Ray Kurzweil and Kurzweil Technologies, Inc." so I figured out cc-by is the best); I uploaded a series of those images, see "Image:PPT..." here and here. We should probably move them all to Commons to commons:Category:Raymond Kurzweil. I still haven't figured out the 'fwd permission @ to Wikipedia legal office', but if somebody wants to guide me on that we can solve it this way, too.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 22:46, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
To forwarded the permission, forward the actual email from His office to permissions-en AT wikimedia DOT org. Include the license that he specifically wants us to use, and include the link of the images uploaded on Wikipedia that fall under the agreement. Once that is done, OTRS will come and tag the images saying we have permission for it. See me on IRC if this explanation is not good. User:Zscout370 (Return Fire) 04:18, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
Ok, how should I format the @? Do we have any 'OTRS for dummies how to page'? :) --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 15:22, 29 December 2007 (UTC)

Update. I have moved all images to commons and deleted all but the one tagged with the 'possibly unfree' tag (I've tagged it with NowCommons; please delete it once this discussion is archived, one way or another :) ). I have just now send the relevant @ to OTRS.--Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 13:45, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Oldmhs.jpg

Image appears to have been copied from the official school website - http://www.aacps.org/html/schol/High/Oldmhs.asp (direct image URL) -- B (talk) 05:11, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:BobbyWhitlocknow.jpg

This image was originally uploaded as {{NoRightsReserved}}. An IP blanked that message and replaced it with "Photo by CoCo Carmel". This uploader has uploaded several other copyvio images and has not edited in nearly a year, so he/she is unavailable to clarify the status of this image. B (talk) 05:14, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Radle and Clapton.jpg

Tagged {{NoRightsReserved}}, but no copyright holder / context is given, so it's impossible to verify. B (talk) 05:15, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Radle1966.jpg

Tagged {{NoRightsReserved}}, no source given B (talk) 05:15, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Cincinnatus Chicken.gif

Image is a photoshop of Image:Cincinnatus statue.jpg, which is GFDL, but no source is given for the chicken head that has been photoshopped onto the statue. Verification is needed that the chicken head is under a GFDL-compatible license. B (talk) 05:18, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

a screenshot on a page not specifically about the TV program, and there is no a section on the TV program either. Snowman (talk) 15:54, 28 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Jonasbrothers123.jpg

Copyright is owned by Hollywood Records. Uploader states he has permission from Hollywood Records to release in public domain. No proof of that permission has been provided. Likelihood that Hollywood Records would allow public domain on any of their images is extraordinarily unlikely. NrDg 22:09, 28 December 2007 (UTC)
