PD-Old not verifiable; Friedrich Ebert died 1925, author of the photograph might have died considerably later. No fair-use rationale given. Ddxc (talk) 00:54, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Autechsilviamft.jpg
Image is apparently a publicity still be either Nissan Motors or Autech, but the uploader used a Fair-Use template for video game screenshots. This picture is clearly not from a video game, and it not being used on any video game articles. The359 (talk) 02:41, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Not deleted - the user is not claiming that it is a free use, please use {{subst:nrd}} and {{subst:rfu}} for images that are lacking fair use rationales or are replaceable, respectively. --B (talk) 06:34, 30 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:Usb128memorytt.jpg
Uploaded under a Fair-Use claim of a video screenshot, however this is a photograph of USB hardware associated with a video game. — The359 (talk) 02:48, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Not deleted as above, this is the wrong process, I have added the tags for the right process. --B (talk) 06:36, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Commons has deleted it for no license. Need OTRS confirmation to be sure what exactly the permission is. Jusjih (talk) 03:27, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Barroso signature.png
This discussion also covers Image:Barroso signature.svg and Image:Hans-Gert Pöttering signature.png.
I do not believe that signatures are automatically in the public domain, because they are the creative work of the person who created them. If that person is an employee of the U.S. government and signs an official document, then we could reasonably assume that their signature has fallen into the public domain, but that is not the case here. —Remember the dot (talk) 03:34, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- Read this. - S. Solberg J. 19:54, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- We've been over this before here, and I don't think it's that clear. The reference provided at the copyright article is far from explicit on that point. I also can't see the federal govt argument, which is stamped all over the presidents' signatures--if the signature was copyrighted, using it in one's work as a federal govt employee wouldn't render it non-copyrighted. Mangostar (talk) 00:05, 17 December 2007 (UTC)
- So you are saying that it is impossible to have José Manuel Barroso's signature on wikipedia? Even if is just a circa SVG recreation of some black lines of ink on an offical document of the European Union? The signature is obviously not copyrightet in itself. - S. Solberg J. 16:38, 17 December 2007 (UTC)

- Unless I'm missing something, I don't see how a signature is copyrightable in the US. It is not a creative act. --B (talk) 06:39, 30 December 2007 (UTC)

Conflicting licensing information - tagged as both "fair use" and "public domain". The NCF web site states "Copyright © 2001-2008 New College of Florida", which makes the "public domain" claim unlikely. —Remember the dot (talk) 04:16, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

Dispute on image description page and image talk page by what looks to be the actual copyright holder of the image. The current Flickr license claims that non-commercial use is prohibited. -- RG2 06:03, 15 December 2007 (UTC)
- I looked through this user's image uploads, and although all of his photos are tagged PD, his or her misunderstanding of what PD is here and the fact that these photos all vary in quality and type of camera used lead me to believe they might not be his. A few of them are orphaned, anyway, so it can't hurt to delete those at the very least.
