- Hmmm. You have a point. So, how should this image be handled/tagged despite of its source and permission from so-called photographer? - Dragonbite 02:31, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
-
- Flickr and the photographer is the only source I know. - Dragonbite 02:43, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Right, but this isn't the actual source of the image, just the source of a derivative. We need the actual source, and license, from the entity that created the image. - cohesion 03:06, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Images uploaded by User:Mario1987
Apart from the two above, User:Mario1987 has been very busy over the last two days uploading images from various corporate websites all under a PD-self tag. These include:
Image:200347.jpg Image:Nedenumit.jpg Image:Golanski-Pawel.jpg Image:Camus.jpg Image:25866 ionut rada.jpg Image:Herea.jpg Image:Kostolac-b.jpg Image:Bucuresti-sud.jpg Image:Romgaz.gif Image:Fdfee transilvaniasud poza1.jpg Image:Fd t sud fig3 en.gif Image:Emd.gif Image:ETN.gif Image:Cuprom.jpg Image:Sigla3d.gif Image:F11a.jpg Image:Sigla.jpg Image:Logo grup feroviar roman.jpg Image:Top logo.gif Image:ButanGas.jpg Image:HVB Tiriac Bank.gif Image:Petromservice.jpg Image:Supplier1.jpg Image:Interagro.jpg Image:Rompetrol 2in.gif Image:Antena1 ro.jpg Image:233 crowne.gif Image:Astra uniqa.gif Image:Unireash.png Image:Sigla-SCR.jpg Image:Rcs rds.jpg Image:Romanbrasov.jpg Image:0 homed.gif Image:Altex.jpg Image:Img romstal1.jpg Image:Elvila.jpg Image:Rtc3.jpg Image:Mobexpert.jpg Image:Iulius mall.png Image:180px-Cotidianul.gif Image:Fildas.jpg Image:Romsis.jpg Image:Cristim.jpg Image:Omnilogic.gif Image:Rafo.jpg Image:Gsp.jpg Image:RTB Bor.jpg Image:RBB.jpg Image:RBM.jpg Image:RTB TIR.jpg Image:Yugoimport.gif Image:Jugopetrol.gif Image:Belupo.gif Image:2319 Prodaja en.jpg Image:2320 Izvoz en.jpg Image:Zentiva.gif
I realise that company logos are usable under fair use provisions, but in most cases, the article itself was a copyvio and has already been speedied. In many other cases, the logo is being used to simply decorate another article not directly related to the company in question. Finally, there are a few photos in there of various sportspeople that I doubt that Mario1987 took himself. --Rlandmann 04:31, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Note that there also was no source listed for any of his images, that powerplant photos were watermarked, and that all logos were orphaned. Calliopejen1 19:43, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

PD Claim - Canadian Road sign design copyright is Crown Copyright surely? Sfan00 IMG 15:23, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- The shield design was established in 1930 (see [2]), therefore Crown Copyright would have expired based on the 50-year rule, even the somewhat modified crown designs of the "Group 4" designs from 1955 which still seems to be the basic design today. Dl2000 16:21, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

Canadian Road Sign - Crown cipyright surely? Sfan00 IMG 16:14, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- Allow me to explain... I drew the images in Photoshop, but the shield itself is in the public domain, as it was created in March of 1930 by the Department of Highways of Ontario (now today's Ministry of Transportation. I suppose it would be a dual PD-self and PD-canada license. Perhaps i should make a license just for ontario's highway shields to simplify things like this? RingtailedFox • Talk • Stalk 17:44, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
- You could explain the situation in the image summary :) Sfan00 IMG 10:40, 6 August 2007 (UTC)

Both images are from this page, which indicates "These photos are offered to Sephra clients to be used for your own marketing or other purposes free of charge." That does not appear to be equivalent to GFDL as claimed. Chick Bowen 23:01, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
