Please ask Encyclopedia Britannica for permission to use this image. Montanabw said the "image is very nice and makes a better headline image."

The new image for the article Evolution of the horse is a bit easier to read than the old image. However, the new image is copyright 2005 to Encyclopedia Britannica, so we cannot use it. Barring some sweeping copyright law reform sometime between now and then, it may still be nonfree well into the next century.
