Don't worry too much about being perfect. Very few of us are! Just in case you are not perfect, click here to see how you can avoid making common mistakes.
If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}}
on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions.
Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. If you need any help just let me know. Once again welcome to Wikipedia, and don't forget to tell us about yourself and be BOLD!
Also, thank you for adding the Kutsher's Camp Anawana article. Wikipedia always needs additional substantive material.
Take a look at some other summer camp articles (you can search Wikipedia for "summer camp" and "New York" and get many examples). You'll likely find some useful examples of article tone and formatting. Another editor has tagged the article as potentially lacking "notability" (and therefore a candidate for deletion). As a first step, you may want to add some categories to the article -- see Wikipedia:Categorization.
I hope you'll keep adding to Wikipedia.

[edit] Kutsher's Camp Anawana
This article has come a long way!
I was not trying to stick a finger in your eye by tagging it for notability. And, as you figured out already, you can take the tag off the article yourself; there's no one hanging around tracking it.
New articles by new editors are deleted almost instantaneously if there is any hint that they might not be notable. Personally I think more experienced editors can be a bit too quick on the trigger when they do this. This is probably because most new articles are, in fact, not notable and never will be; many are also "vanity articles". When I can, I try to help a few newcomers such as yourself that have submitted promising articles; mostly this consists of welcoming them, giving them a few pointers and then trying to defend their article from deletion. That's the whole reason I put the notability tag on the article -- it flags one of the people "patrolling" new articles for potential deletion that at least one semi-experienced editor has reviewed the page, noted problems and left comments on the talk page. At that point, they are supposed to look at the talk page before deleting the article. "New page patrollers" sometimes delete these articles anyway, in which case I make a big fuss and the article gets restored (with some grumbling).
Thanks for your work on Wikipedia and I hope you'll keep at. --A. B. 14:54, 15 July 2006 (UTC)

You've listed this at WP:MFD but since it is a likely misspelling of her name I've redirected it. For future reference, you don't need to list uncontroversial deletions - you can either ask for speedy deletion by placing {{db-reason|REASON}} at the top of the page (assuming it meets one of the criteria for speedy deletion) or add {{subst:prod|REASON}} to propose it for deletion. You only need to list the article at WP:AFD if somebody objects. Cheers, Yomanganitalk 00:30, 8 October 2006 (UTC)
Oh I know it is a misspelling I made it! BUt it was so confusing as to how to have the page deleted! I am fairly new to Wiki and just learning my way around. Hopefully I won't make the same mistake again! Postcard Cathy 01:04, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Postcrossing?!?!?
Postcrossing?!? As a longtime deltiologist I can't believe that I never heard of this before!! Where can I sign up? Paul 02:15, 29 November 2006 (UTC)
Yeah Postcrossing is a lot of fun! go to http://www.postcrossing.com There is a quick registration process. Then you request up to five addresses and you will also get a unique ID number for each. Put the ID on the card, send them off and then wait for the card to be arrived and then registered. Once the card is registered, you will places on the list to receive a card! THe only thing is you can get or receive cards from your own country. All cards are from or sent to countries other than your own! Postcard Cathy 04:05, 29 November 2006 (UTC)

Hmmm... no go... it's too short.... if you can add two paragraphs, perhaps about what food is offered and which celebs have visited or the Chef's other endeavors, we can swing it... - crz crztalk 00:14, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Hey can you do it? It is pushing 7:30 here and I want dinner! Also, you would know how to do the DYK thingy! If you check the article that I referenced (the one that talks about the $300 prix fixe meals), it talks about specific types of sushi offered and other dishes. Postcard Cathy 00:28, 1 December 2006 (UTC)
Hey thanks for expanding! I got back on after I decided to make a frozen Freschetta pizza for dinner and while it was cooking I thought I would try to expand the article but you beat me too it! Now, how do I access the articles on the DYK page? It sounds like a cool page to check out! Postcard Cathy 00:43, 1 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Camp Roosevelt (Monticello)
I've added the "{{prod}}" template to the article Camp Roosevelt (Monticello), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but I don't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and I've explained why in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, or, if you disagree with the notice, discuss the issues at Talk:Camp Roosevelt (Monticello). You may remove the deletion notice, and the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached, or if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria. Martinp23 21:31, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
Time will tell if it is worthy of deletion or not but may I make one suggestion: in the future, please wait more than a minute or two before suggesting a page for deletion. I often save my work in the beginning in order to make sure that the work in progress in saved and not timed out or lost if I lose my internet connection. A little patience often goes a long way. At least wait 15 or so minutes for proposing deletion to make sure no further edits are on the way. Postcard Cathy 21:35, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Category:Fine dining
I have nominated this category for deletion because its application requires an exercise in POV - who's to say which restaurant is fine and which isn't... Please come opine at WP:CFD - crz crztalk 16:39, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
- LOL... we were writing at the same time. Barbeque is a fact, "fine" is a judgment call. - crz crztalk 16:40, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
BTW, I joined postcrossing. Very exciting. - crz crztalk 16:41, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
I think most people knowledgeable about restaurants know what is and isn't I have been using several criteria: 1) Does the restaurant consider itself "haute cusine" or some other term of similar meaning? 2) have reviews described it as such? 3) If you look at pictures of the restaurant, do you see brass, crystal chandeliers, ... or do you see vinyl covered booths that look like they haven't been washed since Hector was a pup? 4) In reading about the restaurant, does it say formal dress required and/or men must wear jackets? 5) The price! Postcard Cathy 16:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Congrats on Postcrossing. I am friendly with a member from your hometown. Postcard Cathy 16:45, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
He he I meant as a valid category (comparing it to bbq - which btw if you don't know someone from Kansas City will get into a huge arguement with someone from North Carolina who will get into a huge argument with someone from Memphis and so on as to what is really BBQ but the category still stands undisputed despite the fact these regions all claim to be the only places that do real bbq). - The University of Montana article listed him as an alumnus, that is why! Postcard Cathy 16:18, 6 January 2007 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you've uploaded a number of images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before converting (see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which decreases the amount of time they take to load. There are a bunch of other advantages to the PNG format such as lossless compression that you can read about on its Wikipedia article. ---Remember the dot 03:23, 2 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Radcliffe College alumni
I wanted to point out to you the recent decision to redirect "Harvard College alumni" into Category:Harvard University alumni. I confess, I was surprised that a "Radcliffe College alumni" category did not exist. However, I think that creating the category may run into similar problems -- that people think of the undergraduate college as synonymous with the University. This is less true with Radcliffe than with Harvard College, but it happens nonetheless. Of course, you also have to contend with a historical distinction that no longer exists. Food for thought?--Vbd (talk) 22:35, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- As far as I am concerned, if Barnard College can have a category apart from Columbia University, than so can Radcliffe and Harvard! Postcard Cathy 22:38, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't entirely disagree. I just have some concerns about it. It may not be much of a distinction, but Barnard remains an independent college, while Radcliffe does not.
- The one specific request I have for you is that, for the sake of consistency, the category be moved from Category:Harvard University to the subcat Category:Harvard University alumni, where all of the University's schools have their individual alumni categories listed (those that exist).--Vbd (talk) 23:00, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
OK I will do that That makes a bunch of sense! In about 3 minutes, double check I did what you asked correctly - I had trouble getting the correct version of your message and want to make sure I read what you wrote correctly! Postcard Cathy 23:02, 28 March 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thanks! You did it right! I made a minor adjustment so that it will show up on the first page of Category:Harvard University alumni rather than on the page with the "R's." I also added it to another category Category:Alumnae of women's universities and colleges. Thanks again.--67.161.13.243 00:16, 29 March 2007 (UTC) (sorry, I'm not signed in and I'm in a hurry.)
Thanks alot! We have some things in common, besides my loving Montreal! I graduated college two years before you and was accepted at BU but went to GW instead. I did end up at BU for grad school though - in Public Health! I still live in the area! Keep in touch! Postcard Cathy 00:19, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Loving Montreal is key! You obviously are a discerning individual. I had a great time at BU as an undergrad. My impression is that the School of Public Health is well-regarded -- congratulations!
- I wanted to give you a head's up about a Cfm I nominated. It came about in part because you made me think about Radcliffe. Thanks.--Vbd (talk) 02:44, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
- Oh yeah. I forgot to suggest that you add a note to the Category:Radcliffe College alumni page that provides parameters for including people. Is the cut-off date 1977? 1999? Did all women who graduated before 1977 get Radcliffe degrees or were some considered Harvard students? --Vbd (talk) 02:53, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Recess episode nominations
You recently nominated numerous episodes of Recess for deletion, regardless of what the outcome is, you did something wrong. Not knowing what you tried to do, I can't guess, but in the future, I think it would be strongly appreciated if you tried to group the episodes together. Certainly mass nominations are often a problem, but in this case, you made things worse. Also, if you started off with only one page first, it might work a lot better to get consensus. As of now, I think it's just too horrible a mess. FrozenPurpleCube 20:19, 29 March 2007 (UTC)

- I tried to follow the instructions but I think I did something wrong. For some reason, whenever I try to follow the instructions in cases like this, things never seem to go right! Postcard Cathy 11:15, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Categorizing AfD debates
I see you recently made a bunch of AfD nominations. You forgot to enter a debate category in the {{REMOVE THIS TEMPLATE WHEN CLOSING THIS AfD}} tag. Please go through your recent nominations and categorize them so people who follow AfD can find ones of interest to them. I also note your userpage says you are a member of the uncategorized task force, so this should come naturally to you ;-) —dgiestc 21:08, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
- Nah, doesn't come naturally to me. I don't like the way the instructions for these things are written since I usually have trouble when I try to put them into place! I stick to going to the uncategorized pages category and try to put them in the right place. Much easier! Postcard Cathy 11:16, 30 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Categories
Hi. I just created Category:Postcard artists, as a sub category of "postcards" and "artists". People are not postcards. If there is a useful category that does not yet exist, you can create such; see Wikipedia:Categories. It took me much less time to take care of this than it did to write this short message to you. Hope this helps, and let me know if I can be of assistance. Cheers, -- Infrogmation 13:03, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
-
- Thank you, but realize category of postcards isn't just for the pieces of paper we know as postcards but as the page says, all things related to postcards. There is the history of postcards such as printers, publishers, artists, and so on. Postcard Cathy 13:08, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- But Infrogmation created Category:Postcard artists as a sub-category of Category:Postcards, and since it's quite obviously more logical to group humans together as a category unto themselves distinct from inanimate objects and other subjects relating to the field, why not categorise the people who make postcards accordingly? You will easily find the subcategory Category:Postcard artists listed on the Category:Postcards page. Pinkville 15:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- And I have moved postcard artists to that category. But it is a bit silly to create too many subcategories for a rather small field! If you want to create subcategories for postcard publishers, postcard collectors, postcard archives, etc. feel free to do so. But I think it overdoes it a bit. And unless/until more subcategories are created, important postcard related topics, be they human or not, should be put in the postcard category. A subject is related to postcards whether they are inanimate or human. Postcards do not make themselves! Postcard Cathy 15:57, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pirates at Ocean's Edge
I've significantly edited the article since you nominated it, it's improved as far as it can be at this point, so unless you have some other reason for your nomination, would you mind withdrawing it? In any case, AFD is not for cleanup, and I'm hoping you weren't familiar with the subject matter, and so didn't know that this is a expansion set for a highly notable game. If so, please try to learn about something before you nominate it, and if you just wanted it cleaned up, don't use AFD for that. Use {{cleanup}} and other tags. And also, please stop putting AFD notices at the bottom. Proper form is to put them at the top. FrozenPurpleCube 16:16, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Been deleted already! Yes, I agree that clean up shouldn't be the only reason that an article is nominated for deletion. But it also talked about a future game IIRC and a few other problems I listed in the reasons for my requesting it be deleted. And yes, I know AFDs usually go on top but stop being so anal - if they go on the bottom and not on the top because I do it without thinking, Wiki and the world won't come to an end. BTW, if the Pirates at Ocean's Edge is as important as you imply that it is, then write a new article on the subject and write a good article about it! Let us know why it is important. Apparently the people who voted to delete it didn't agree with you about how important it was, based on what was written. And on that vein, that is why I AfD'd it after the prod was removed. You are right - it could be more important than I first believed it to be. But as I said before, not enough people thought it important or it would have been kept! Postcard Cathy 16:26, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Actually, you are mistaken, it hasn't been deleted. Hmm, I thinking the ' is a problem. That's another problem. The article itself isn't something that is likely to be deleted though, if you check the AFD, nobody else has even responded. (BTW, AFD is not a vote, so nobody votes there anyway). There is a reason why these things go on for five days, and there is no CSD criteria which this meets. As this is an announced product, it will not be troubled by the crystal ball effect. Even if it weren't produced, that would still be a reason to keep the information.
- Beyond that, I understand you may not like being chided, but as I see it, you are very sloppy about your AFD's, it is inappropriate for you to add the AFD template to the bottom, as the template itself is supposed to be at the top. Everybody makes mistakes, but you seem to not even care. FrozenPurpleCube 17:24, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- Yeah, yeah supposed to be at the top. I will see you somewhere in space as the world has blown up because I put it at the bottom instead of the top. Sometimes, Manty, you have to be less OCD and say some things just aren't worth complaining about. Complain about things like someone saying George Washington was America's 15th President or that he had nothing to do with the Revolutionary War but in fact was the hero of WWI. Those are things worth being picky about. Whether an AfD goes on the bottom or the top of the page is not worth discussing! Postcard Cathy 17:29, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
-
-
-
-
- What discussion? If you want to propose a change to the general procedure, that would be a different page. Personally, I don't even see a point to complaining about George Washington being the 15th president or part of WWI, that's just vandalism, you fix it and move on. In any case, if I hadn't noticed you doing it multiple times, I wouldn't care, but when you continue to do it, it tells me maybe you needed to know that's the wrong way to do things. It's sloppy, and your hostile attitude here is not convincing me of anything except that the concern that you need to show more diligence is even more warranted. FrozenPurpleCube 19:00, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Just a friendly reminder to use an edit summary when proposing deletion for an article. Edit summary usage is always good, but it is especially important that edit summaries are used when proposing deletion. The reason for this is that articles proposed for deletion that later have the {{prod}} tag removed should not be proposed for deletion again, but rather sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. The only easy way to check if an article was previously proposed for deletion is to look at the edit history and the edit summaries people have left before. Thanks! Oo7565 18:51, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Radcliffe College alumni follow-up
Hi. I'm not sure if you missed my earlier note (see above) or whether you didn't have a response to it. I was hoping to get some clarification from you about what might be a reasonable cut-off date for referring to someone as a Radcliffe alumna. Please let me know what you think.--Vbd (talk) 02:34, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
-
- Sorry missed that! Good question. I am not positive what the answer is but my gut tells me that regardless of what the degree says, it depends on what the internal paperwork says. I remember back in the 70s when the first merge happened. You were still considered a Radcliffe student but the dorms were merged with Harvard for coed dorms and you were allowed to take courses at either college. But IIRC you were still considered a Radcliffe student. Even though now I live only three or so miles away, I am not sure what the deal is. I know on local maps printed today the area is listed as Radcliffe College. They do offer fellowships and the like at what remains.... I don't know what to say! Postcard Cathy 09:56, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was thinking about it primarily in terms of undergraduates. Radcliffe continues to exist in the form of an "Institute for Advanced Study." Here's a brief history: "Harvard degrees were awarded to Radcliffe students for the first time in 1963, and in the same year women were admitted to the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. . . . In 1977, Harvard and Radcliffe agreed that Radcliffe would delegate to Harvard all responsibility for undergraduate education of women and the management of undergraduate affairs. After the 1977 Agreement, Radcliffe College devoted increasing attention to cultivation and development of research and postgraduate programs, having turned over almost all responsibility for collegiate affairs to Harvard College. . . . [In] 1999, the governing bodies of Harvard and Radcliffe completed the merger of the two institutions. Harvard College assumed full responsibility for the education of undergraduate women." Between 1977 and 1999, the schools were entirely integrated, although I think women were still nominally considered to be enrolled as Radcliffe students. Until 1999, diplomas were signed by the presidents of both Harvard and Radcliffe. 1999 is definitely a bright line. I'm just not sure what to do with graduates between 1977 and 1999. Maybe it will need to depend on what the source material says. But I'd like to come up with a guiding sentence to put on the category page, if possible.--Vbd (talk) 23:42, 7 April 2007 (UTC)
- I was thinking something along the same line but I really have no opinion on the matter, at least not a strong one. Whatever you think is best, go with it! Postcard Cathy 14:36, 8 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi, you recently prod'ded the above page, with a reason that indicated you merged the content to Denzel Washington. While I think your action was the proper one regarding the merge, I felt it important to point out to you that the Gnu Free Document License requires that a record of the history be kept whenever a merge occurs. Please note that per the consensus at WP:EPISODE, individual episode articles should not be created until there is a significant amount of notable information to include in them, and that the preference is to expand the article first into a list of episodes, which raven already has, and then into individual seasons, which is the next step. Also, 7 of the articles have already been redirected at AFD, which I have redirected them, and updated the main page. I'm investigating the process/policy to see what will happen to the remainder, but there is a very good chance they will ALL be redirected back to the list of episodes. ⇒ SWATJester On Belay! 18:41, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
-
- Double note, per consensus at WP:EPISODE and support at the relevant topic on the administrator's noticeboard, I will be redirecting the individual episode pages back into the main list of episodes. If you have further improvements to make, you should make them to the list of episodes page. The next step, according to WP:EPISODE, is to begin working on a page for the seasons, in which the plot lines for each season can be discussed. Considering the content and low-viewer base for Raven compared to prime-time shows, it is unlikely to ever meet the threshold for notability to include individual episode articles. ⇒ SWATJester On Belay! 18:46, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks for the Changes to "Caroline Kaufer" aritlce
- I started the stub and appreciate both the changes you've made and the removal of the tag. I too felt the article was better than many other stubs but realized as a contributor, it would not have been disinterested of me to remove the tag. Interlingua talk email 17:38, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Daniel Lloyd a Mr Pinc
Revisited it, and while it's borderline as nonsense, it's probably also a db-band as well. And nothing sensible seems to have come of the article since you tagged it. So I went and deleted it. Thanks. Dina 17:32, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

- Yeah, sometimes I feel like editors use the nonsense tags incorrectly too much, and I pull them. The day I pulled that tag the CSD was pretty backlogged with badly tagged articles. This one was speediable for a couple of reasons, so it seemed worth revisiting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. Dina 17:39, 21 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] American Nightmare
Hi, you have placed a prod on American Nightmare. This article was supposed to be a redirect but the atricle keeps getting recreated with little or no useful information. The redirect was protected for a time and then semi-protected, but still seems to be getting reverted to a stub. The last person to do this apprears to claim some copyright violation in having the redirect.
I have left it but think that it should be reverted to the redirect to Give Up the Ghost again, and protected to prevent it been changed yet again. If it is deleted then it would need protection from recreation.
Keith D 13:41, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have previously reverted several times but have not got any means of protecting it. It would need an admin person for that.
- Keith D 13:48, 1 May 2007 (UTC)
-
- It can be deleted, but I would expect it to be recreated within days.

Thanks! Oo7565 18:30, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Hanukkah Harry
I have substantially rewritten the Hanukkah Harry article to address the specific issues you had raised. The article as it existed when you submitted your nomination deserved to be speedy deleted. Previous incarnations omitted the nonsense, but lacked sources. The current version provides details and sources regarding the Saturday Night Live skit and of multiple popular culture references. Please review the article to see if it does meet standards as it currently exists. My best regards to the Five Towns. Alansohn 03:42, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for rewriting it. I still think it should be up to the community. There seems to be some consensus that even as an SNL Skit, it is not wiki worthy. And the guy thought he was being sneaky and copied the same article under the title Chanukah Harry! BTW, left the 5 Towns as soon as I graduated HS! Postcard Cathy 03:47, 3 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your prod on Gunning Samuel Bedford
I have removed the proposed deletion notice you placed on Gunning Samuel Bedford because I did not understand the explanation you gave, which was "duplicate page." Please let me know what page you think this is a duplicate of, and perhaps we can figure out how best to solve the problem. Thanks, Newyorkbrad 20:50, 17 May 2007 (UTC)
- In response to your edit summary (it was an IP's edit summary, but I assume that was you logged out), the reason I did not find the article when I looked for it was because I checked the disambiguation page at Gunning Bedford and Gunning S. Bedford was not listed there, although two other articles about people named Gunning Bedford were. I have added Gunning S. Bedford to that page so that people can find it easily in the future. I also agree with the person who decided that making Gunning Samuel Bedford a redirect was the best solution. Regards, Newyorkbrad 18:13, 18 May 2007 (UTC)

- Because it ended up as a legitimate article, not as something on his user talk page. If it stayed on his user talk page, I wouldn't have had an issue with it. [edit] edit summaries
Please follow the guidance at WP:PROD#How_to_nominate and WP:LfD#How_to_list_pages_for_deletion with respect to including the notification of PROD or AFD in the edit summary when making the edits. - I actually came to this Talk page myself to request that you please include edit summaries in general when editing articles; you recently edited a number of articles on my Watchlist for things like stubs and categorization, which is of course fine, but because you didn't summarize the edit, I'm having to check each article individually to see what changes were made, which is rather frustrating. Thanks. Propaniac 13:10, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
I tried more than once to put my reasons in for proding the article Buetian but the template won't accept my reason. It keeps leaving the reason blank. Something is wrong here and I can't figure out what. Postcard Cathy 22:25, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
If I can just add to this, please also make your reasons for prodding a little less colourful. Something like this: nothing in this article indicates why this guy is wiki worthy. Millions of people are actors. What is special about this guy? Humph. Let me read the article. Oh, I see. I still don't know so I am assuming there is nothing worth telling. might be considered cute by some and disparaging by others. Thanks, Mallanox 15:03, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of Paris by Nights
Hi Cathy,
If you examine the history of the item, you'll see I created it as a redirect (probably during some AfD/DRV I closed.) An IP later converted this sensible redirect to a pile of nonsense text. I have reverted the title to its original state. While your tagging was not a bad thing (indeed, thank you for finding the damage done!), you might want to check article histories in the future, to see if any good versions remain underneath the nonsense. :) Best wishes, Xoloz 01:39, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Brave New World
Thanks for your message and information about the new articles. If you read my post on User:Jsmlw you will see that I agree with your detective work! However, I don't agree that just because "Helmholtz Watson" and "Bernard Marx" redirect now that this is the way it always has to be: just yesterday I wrote an article for something that had been a redirect before! Though I must say that the two articles are currently not very informative and a redirect/merge is the way to go. I suggested to Jsmlw that s/he might want to consider their options... including a merge of their information with the Brave New World article, and was waiting a week to see if they would reappear to comment and act. Personally, I think that you should remove the Prod tag from Bernard marx since it would make a good redirect to the BNW article, just has has been done by another user to Helmholtz watson. Just a thought, and thanks for being in touch! --Slp1 12:52, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Richard Martin
Hi. I stumbled upon the Richard Martin article today (saw your note about name contradiction in Recent Changes) and thought I'd give a shot at establishing notability. I wanted to let you know that I'd moved the expanded article to Richard Martin (director), since research confirms that's what he is. I'm a relative newbie and not sure if the magical Wikipedia will notify you of the move, so I figured I'd let you know. :) Moonriddengirl 22:29, 8 July 2007 (UTC)
- I had a bit of extra time, so I just went poking around a bit. His name was confirmed by IMDb, but also in a magazine article about Air Bud: Golden Receiver (the one and only reference in his article). I would have liked to have found more about him, but there's not much out there. There's a bio on the IMDb page, but it was supplied by Anonymous. Not exactly verifiable. :) Moonriddengirl 23:39, 8 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] data on the Bi Mental Health Professionals Association entry
We are really, really sure that this is is a vanity page for a small (very = 38 people) yahoo group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BiMHP/.
This is not at all to say that the IDEA of such a group is not a very good one.
So someday if the group becomes something other than a shill for it's creator who is herself in the "therapy" biz and looking to drum up customers by adding to her professional reputation by listing "Founder and president of . . . " on her e-mails and flyers (plus explaining how important she is by pointing to her Wikipedia Entry which also is IMHO not much better that a vanity page) it could and should be added back in.
If we don't hear from you is it ok to assume "silence = consent" and to undo it back to where it was? We'll put the link on the original article's discussion page and keep checking back if you'd like to talk about this. BiAndBi 01:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
- PS See that someone had already said it was just a Yahoo Group on the article's discussion page. We've put the link and our comments there too BiAndBi 01:21, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
-
- Hope you approve of this solution. We put mention of the groups into the Sheela Lambert article. We expanded a paragraph to talk about a number of Yahoo Groups that were created and put in the links to these three "profesional associations" as "references". Then we turned the actual article into a redirect. Lastly we noted all this on Talk:Bi Mental Health Professionals Association, including the fact that it could be turned back into a regular article should the situation ever call for it. I was sorting some articles in the stub category and came across this article - Heritage Junior/Senior High School I went to leave a message on the author's talk page asking for important info like where the school was located and it appears that the article had already been speedied and recreated. I left a note on the talk page of the person who left the speedy message. Is there anything else I should do to figure out if this is a recreated article by the same author of an already deleted page? Postcard Cathy 08:31, 16 July 2007 (UTC)
- You would need to ask an admin (maybe the one who deleted the first time). However, I'd imagine an admin will pick up on it if it does keep been recreated. Unless I misunderstand, don't you know who the author of the first article was (for comparison) though, as you went to their talk page (which should be in your history)?
- I'm not an expert on speedy deletion, but, assuming it was speedied on notability or lack of content grounds, I guess, you might be interested to see if you can add to the article and find references that establish its notability. If you don't think you can or can't do so, you may want to consider whether it fits a WP:CSD and tag appropriately again.
- Not sure if that helps

- Hi Cathy. It appears that you're trying to use a template from the German wikipedia in an article in the English version - and that could be the problem. I don't see a direct translated version, but I think most articles on cities in the English wikipedia use Template:Infobox Settlement. If you find that this doesn't apply to the Peuerbach article, I'd suggest making a Template:Infobox Places in Austria template in this domain that is translated from the German version. [edit] Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School Dance Marathon AfD
Greetings! I have closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School Dance Marathon. Since you nominated the article for deletion, I wanted to follow up with a message.
Functionally, the Dance Marathon article no longer exists. It is now a redirect to an article on Wake Forest-Rolesville Middle School. Functionally, the Marathon article was moved to that title, and the content about the school added around the Marathon content. The article still needs balancing—more on the school, less on the Marathon—but that's now more a content dispute and less an issue of subject notability.
It is still possible that the middle school will fail notability. I'd like a little time to gather more information, but you're certainly within your rights to nominate the new article for AfD as well. —C.Fred (talk) 14:48, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Nburden (T) 04:45, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Camprooseveltbanner.gif
Thanks for uploading Image:Camprooseveltbanner.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:14, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Shalom Restaurant
Another editor has added the {{prod}}
template to the article Shalom Restaurant, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Please either work to improve the article if the topic is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia or discuss the relevant issues at its talk page. If you remove the {{prod}}
template, the article will not be deleted, but note that it may still be sent to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. BJBot (talk) 07:00, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] AfD nomination of Durgin Park
I have nominated Durgin Park, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Durgin Park. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Mascot cen.gif
Thank you for uploading Image:Mascot cen.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 14:58, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
